Russia’s Planned Idle Refining Capacity Raised by 67% for October

Oilprice.com

Russia has raised the refining capacity volumes it expects to be idle this month by 67% compared to an earlier plan, due to scheduled maintenance at major refineries, Reuters estimates showed on Wednesday. In October, Russia expects to have 4.0 million metric tons of refining capacity offline, per Reuters’s calculations based on figures provided by industry sources. While that’s lower than the idle capacity in September, at 4.5 million tons, it is still higher than previously planned. Previously... Читать дальше...

Molecular and microbiological methods for the identification of nonreplicating Mycobacterium tuberculosis

Plos.org

by Jansy Passiflora Sarathy

Chronic tuberculosis (TB) disease, which requires months-long chemotherapy with multiple antibiotics, is defined by diverse pathological manifestations and bacterial phenotypes. Targeting drug-tolerant bacteria in the host is critical to achieving a faster and durable cure for TB. In order to facilitate this field of research, we need to consider the physiology of persistent MTB during infection, which is often associated with the nonreplicating (NR) state. However... The illusion of information adequacy

Plos.org

by Hunter Gehlbach, Carly D. Robinson, Angus Fletcher

How individuals navigate perspectives and attitudes that diverge from their own affects an array of interpersonal outcomes from the health of marriages to the unfolding of international conflicts. The finesse with which people negotiate these differing perceptions depends critically upon their tacit assumptions—e.g., in the bias of naïve realism people assume that their subjective construal of a situation represents objective truth. The... Читать дальше...

Research on adaptive hydraulic drive optimization control of concrete mixing tank truck for open-pit mine

Plos.org

by Guangwei Liu, Chonghui Ren, Senlin Chai, Xuedong Wang, Wei Liu

The non-axisymmetric problem caused by the fluid sloshing in the tank of a mining concrete mixing tank truck during driving is affected by the excitation of complex road surfaces. The fluid sloshing is coupled with the dynamics of the vehicle body due to the excitation of the complex road surface. The traditional hydraulic drive proportional integral differential (PID) control method is not effective in dealing with such problems... Читать дальше...

Four-party evolutionary game analysis of enterprise environmental behavior

Plos.org

by Xujun Zhai, Lian Zheng, Hong Lin

With the implementation of the “Rural Revitalization Strategy” in China, it is common for enterprises to go to the countryside to develop business. However, enterprises often neglect the local environmental protection in rural areas while developing the economy to pursue profits. As the end of the national administrative system and the villagers’ autonomous organization, the village committee needs to participate in monitoring enterprises’ environmental behavior. Sexist textbooks: Automated analysis of gender bias in 1,255 books from 34 countries

Plos.org

by Lee Crawfurd, Christelle Saintis-Miller, Rory Todd

Textbooks play a critical role in schooling around the world. Small sample studies show that many books continue to under-represent women and girls, and to portray men and women in stereotypical gendered roles. In this paper, we use quantitative text analysis to assess the degree of gender bias in a newly assembled corpus of 1,255 English language school textbooks from 34 countries that are publicly available online. We find consistent... Читать дальше...

Systematic review: The relationship between gabapentinoids, etizolam, and drug related deaths in Scotland

Plos.org

by Beata Ciesluk, Dr. Greig Inglis, Adrian Parke, Lucy J. Troup

In recent years Scotland has been experiencing a disproportionally high number of drug related deaths compared to other European countries, causing significant individual, societal and economic burden. A possible cause of this is the increase in average number of substances involved in Scottish drug related deaths, as well as the changing pattern of substances involved. Opioids, cocaine, and alcohol have been consistently involved in the culture of drug use in Scotland... Читать дальше...
