A former Memphis police supervisor says there was “no need” for five officers to punch, kick, and hit Tyre Nichols with a baton on the night he was fatally beaten after a traffic stop. Dewayne Smith says he arrived at the scene after the beating, and the officers did not tell him they had beaten Nichols. Instead they speculated that he was on drugs. Human remains in Kentucky positively identified as the Kentucky highway shooter

Human remains found in Kentucky have been positively identified as the man who shot 12 vehicles and wounded five people on Interstate 75 more than a week earlier. A retired couple found the remains of Joseph Couch on Wednesday. At 93 years old, legendary boxing promoter Don King has had a storied career working with some of the biggest names in the sport's history, including heavyweight champ Mike Tyson . But according to Tyson himself, King's health has been in decline recently. First lady Jill Biden invited cast members from “The West Wing” to the White House to mark the 25th anniversary of the hit drama. Among those who attended Friday's party in the Rose Garden was Martin Sheen, who played President Jed Bartlet. Sheen gave a Bartlet-style address to the crowd, calling them to service and to find something in their lives worth fighting for. “The West Wing” remains a favorite of many who now work in Washington, both liberal and conservative.
