Ricky Ponting is new Punjab Kings head coach

Ricky Ponting, former Australian cricket captain, will join Punjab Kings as head coach for IPL 2025. He replaces Trevor Bayliss after two unsuccessful seasons. Previously with Delhi Capitals, Ponting led them to their first IPL final in 2020 and three playoff appearances. An official announcement from Punjab Kings is anticipated shortly.

Britain looks to Italy for help amid surge in Channel migrants

LONDON — Human rights groups have urged Britain not to copy Italy’s approach in trying to reduce the number of migrants arriving on its shores. Their comments come after British Prime Minister Keir Starmer traveled to Rome this week to learn more about the country’s success in tackling irregular migration across the Mediterranean Sea. There has been a surge of migrants arriving in small boats from France on Britain’s southern shores. I-T dept hikes threshold for filing appeals in courts, tribunal by officers

The income tax department has hiked the minimum threshold for filing appeals by the department in tribunal, high courts and the Supreme Court. As per a circular by the CBDT, tax authorities can file appeals before the ITAT, high courts and Supreme Court, if the disputed tax demand exceeds Rs 60 lakh, Rs 2 crore and Rs 5 crore, respectively. In 2019, the government had set the threshold for filing appeals at Income Tax Appellate Tribunal (ITAT) at Rs 50 crore, high courts (Rs 1 crore) and Supreme Court (Rs 2 crore). Читать дальше...
