In the first meeting on the e-commerce work programme since the 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13), Ambassador Richard Brown of Jamaica, the new facilitator of the work programme, heard members’ views on 17 September on how to proceed with the programme to take account of the development issues raised by WTO members.

Members discussed on 17 September the documents to be included in the report of the Sixth Review of the Operation and Implementation of the WTO Agreement on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures (SPS Agreement). Members aim to conclude the review in March 2025, paving the way for the WTO to tackle new work and continue existing activities related to food safety and animal and plant health.

United Arab Emirates donates USD 1 million to WTO Fish Fund

The United Arab Emirates is contributing USD 1 million (about CHF 847,000) to assist developing members and least-developed country (LDC) members implement the Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies. UAE Ambassador Abdelsalam Mohamed A. Al Ali presented the contribution to WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on 17 September.
