Spatial and temporal dynamics of urban heat environment at the township scale: A case study in Jinan city, China

Plos.org

by Dongchao Wang, Jianfei Cao, Baolei Zhang, Kangning Kong, Run Wang

The prolonged dependence on industrial development has accentuated the cumulative effects of pollutants. Simultaneously, influenced by land construction activities and green space depletion, the Urban Heat Island (UHI) effect in cities has intensified year by year, jeopardizing the foundation of sustainable urban development. Prudent urban spatial planning holds the potential to robustly ameliorate the persistent deterioration of the UHI phenomenon. Читать дальше...

ERCC1 which affects lipids metabolism and actin dynamics in coal workers’ pneumoconiosis is a candidate biomarker for early warning and diagnosis

Plos.org

by Hao Deng, Yan Chen, Mali Wu, Tao Zhang

The single-nucleotide polymorphisms of genes related to DNA damage repair and inflammasomes and mutated gene expression in coal workers’ pneumoconiosis (CWP) were analysed to identify the risk factors of CWP and potential biomarkers for early warning and diagnosis. Further, mutated gene pathways were analysed based on proteome and metabolome. Han Chinese male subjects were randomly selected and divided into 4 or 5 groups according to the process of CWP. Designing a new integrated control solution for electric power steering systems based on a combination of nonlinear techniques

Plos.org

by Tuan Anh Nguyen

An EPS system is used to improve the stability and safety of the car when steering while also simplifying the steering process. This article introduces a novel control solution for the EPS system called BSSMCPID. This algorithm combines two nonlinear techniques, BS and SMC, with the input signal corrected by a PID technique. This algorithm provides three new contributions compared to existing algorithms: reducing system errors and eliminating phase differences, ensuring... Читать дальше...

Clinical study of ultrasound-guided minimally invasive catheterization combined with compound cortex phellodendri fluid in the treatment of lactational breast abscess

Plos.org

by Na Wang, Lili Gong, Chunmei Ye

Objective

To retrospectively analyze the clinical practicability and value of ultrasound-guided minimally invasive catheterization combined with compound Phellodendron Phellodendri liquid in the treatment of breast abscess during lactation.

Methods

139 patients with lactational breast abscess discharged from our hospital from January 2021 to November 2023 were selected. We divided them into groups according to treatment methods, analyzed whether... Читать дальше...

Visuomotor predictors of interception

Plos.org

by Inmaculada Márquez, Mario Treviño

Intercepting moving targets is a fundamental skill in human behavior, influencing various domains such as sports, gaming, and other activities. In these contexts, precise visual processing and motor control are crucial for adapting and navigating effectively. Nevertheless, there are still some gaps in our understanding of how these elements interact while intercepting a moving target. This study explored the dynamic interplay among eye movements, pupil size... Читать дальше...

Comparison of the deformity reduction device (DRD) mini and the Slocum jig in the precision of torsional correction during distal femoral osteotomies in small to medium breed dogs

Plos.org

by Stephanie K. Steuri, Cassio Ferrigno, Adrien Hespel, Xiaojuan Zhu

Previous studies have compared the use of the Slocum- jig to the deformity reduction device (DRD) jig for the correction of distal femoral deformities of varying degrees in the frontal plane. The objective of the current study is to further investigate the use of the mini DRD jig in comparison to the Slocum jig for correction of varying degrees of torsional deformities of the distal femur. Femoral models (n = 60) were developed... Читать дальше...

Comparison of regulatory approval system for medicines in emergency among Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Europe, and China

Plos.org

by Kazuki Edo, Masahide Kawano, Hideki Maeda

The approval of pharmaceuticals in response to the COVID-19 pandemic is a global concern, and during emergencies, emergency approval or authorization systems that enable the rapid use of unapproved drugs to maintain national health are essential. However, there is limited research comparing these systems across countries and their effects. This cross-sectional study examined such systems in Japan (JP), Europe (EU), the United Kingdom (UK), and... Читать дальше...
