Apocalyptic-looking plumes of smoke filled skies east of Los Angeles as firefighters battled three major wildfires that erupted amid a blistering heat wave. Tens of thousands of homes and other structures were threatened and evacuation orders were expanded Tuesday night as the fires grew. Parts of the popular ski town of Big Bear and the entire community of Wrightwood were included. Sikkim announces 100% concession on bus fares for PWDs, BPL women

The Sikkim government on Wednesday announced a 100 per cent concession on bus fares for persons with over 40 per cent disability and women in the BPL category, an official notification said. The order issued by the state transport department said that the facility can be availed of in both intra and inter-state services effective immediately. To avail of the concession, PWDs (persons with disability) must produce a valid Unique Disability ID card issued by the Centre, certifying 40 per cent or above degree of disability. Читать дальше...

Karnataka: Siddaramaiah sets up 5-member panel of ministers to dig up BJP scams

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has established a five-member committee to investigate the "21 scams" alleged to have occurred during the previous BJP administration. Led by Home Minister G Parameshwara, the committee includes Law Minister HK Patil, Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, Rural Development & Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge, and Labour Minister Santosh Lad.
