Three dead after plane crashes into row of townhouses in Oregon's Portland

Three people were dead after a small plane crashed into a row of townhouses Saturday morning in a neighbourhood east of Portland, setting the homes ablaze, authorities told KATU-TV. Officials earlier in the day had said the plane was carrying two people and that at least one resident had been unaccounted for. Photos and videos published by KGW-TV in Portland showed one of the townhomes engulfed in flames while black smoke poured out of the adjoining houses. Storm lingers in Japan, bringing heavy rain to some areas

tokyo — Tropical Storm Shanshan brought torrential rain Sunday to Japan's Shizuoka area, 180 kilometers southwest of Tokyo, as weather officials warned the storm would linger for several more days.  Shanshan, packing winds of 65 kilometers per hour, made landfall Thursday, leaving landslides, flooded rivers, torn branches and scattered debris in its path. Gujarat braces for another spell of heavy rain, death toll at 47

Gujarat is expected to face heavy rainfall again starting Sunday, due to a depression moving from the Bay of Bengal towards the state and Maharashtra. The heavy rains from Aug 25 to Aug 29 resulted in 47 deaths across various districts. More rain is anticipated in Saurashtra, central, and south Gujarat regions until Sept 5.
