These should be the “good old days” for Ohio. There have never been more state residents employed and the lowest unemployment rate of 3.3 percent ever recorded was set just last summer.

To the editor: Amendment means well but wrong

I am opposed to the proposed Amendment on redistricting. Although well intentioned, it is ill-conceived with respect to its district design criteria. Many people blamed the fiasco of redistricting in 2022 on the commission members, but that conflict was, at least in part, rooted in the Supreme Court’s extra-Constitutional interpretation of district requirements.

To the editor: Crypto is business chance for Ohio

Digital assets will play a key role in the future of our economy. The Ohio Blockchain Basics Act (House Bill 406) will help prepare our state for that reality. As a co-sponsor of H.B. 406, I write to clarify The Blade’s recent criticism of the legislation “Ohio crypto craziness,” Aug. 12, which ignores important facts and context. Community leaders must recognize the importance of these strategic efforts to position Ohio as a leader in the emerging digital economy. To not act would be the “blunder,” leaving Ohio and Ohioans behind.

Lucas County Commissioners have approved a $23,000 study on infrastructure improvements needed to make Promenade Park suitable for a higher caliber of concerts. It’s puzzling that this information isn’t already on hand since the county paid for a feasibility study for an amphitheater in the park last summer. (“Lucas Co. OKs funds to assess park,” Wednesday.)
