Bangladesh registered their first ever Test win over Pakistan with a 10-wicket victory in the series opener in Rawalpindi on Sunday. Pakistan, who declared their first innings on 448-6, were bowled out for 146 in their second, which left Bangladesh needing 30 runs to go 1-0 up in the two-Test series. The second Test, also in Rawalpindi, begins on Friday.

Manila, Philippines — China's actions in the South China Sea are "patently illegal," the Philippines' defense secretary said Monday following a clash in disputed waters on Sunday over what Manila said was a resupply mission for fishermen. "We have to expect these kinds of behavior from China because this is a struggle. We have to be ready to anticipate and to get used to these kinds of acts of China which are patently illegal, as we have repeatedly said," Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro told reporters. Ex-cricketer pinpoints reason behind Pakistan's loss against Bangladesh

Abdullah Shafique faced criticism from former cricketer Basit Ali after Pakistan's defeat in the first Test against Bangladesh. Basit criticized Shafique and Naseem Shah for poor shot selection. He blamed head coach Jason Gillespie for misreading the pitch and not including Abrar Ahmed. Pakistan will aim to level the series in the upcoming Test on August 30.
