Nine UNRWA staff members 'may have been involved' in October 7 attacks

An investigation by the UN Office of Internal Oversight Services (OIOS) found on Monday that nine UNRWA staff members "may have been involved" in the October 7 attacks led by Hamas on Israel in 2023. An OIOS investigation was launched in January after Israel accused 12 staffers of being involved in the attacks, with seven more cases brought forth since. The nine who were potentially involved have been fired, even though the OIOS still have to independently verify the information provided by Israel.
