President Cyril Ramaphosa has appointed Deputy Chief Justice Mandisa Maya to be the next Chief Justice of South Africa, the first woman to hold the position. In a historic decision, Ramaphosa selected Justice Maya to replace outgoing Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, effective September 1, 2024.
