Opuni Trial: We do PPA approved sole sourcing, thresholds for fertilizer purchase—witness tells court

Madam Bernice Debrah Ashong, an Administrator at Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), says the entity 39;s sole sourcing and thresholds for the purchase of fertilizers are done per the Procurement Act. She said the Procurement Unit of COCOBOD prepared composite letters with all the names of the fertiliser companies to the Public Procurement Authority (PPA) attached with their documents for approvals.

Akufo-Addo nominates two persons for appointment as Supreme Court judges

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has nominated Justice Sophia Rosseta Bernasko Essah and Professor Richard Frimpong Oppong for appointment as Supreme Court judges. Justice Essah is a Justice of the Court of Appeal; while Prof Frimpong Oppong is a legal academic and Fellow of the Ghana Academy of Sciences.

Senate Ethics Committee starts review of Sen. Bob Menendez's conduct following bribery conviction

The Senate Ethics Committee has voted unanimously to review allegations that Sen. Bob Menendez violated Senate rules. The panel is building towards potential disciplinary actions against the New Jersey Democrat after he was convicted of bribery charges this month. The ethics panel could recommend that Menendez be censured or expelled, which would put maximum pressure on the senator to resign or pave the way for the Senate to hold a vote on his expulsion.
