Working on investment to support workers who would lose jobs at UK unit: Tata's N Chandrasekaran

Tata Steel is collaborating with the UK government and unions to invest in skill development for workers affected by the modernisation of its Port Talbot plant. The company is transitioning to a low-emission electric arc furnace (EAF) process, resulting in job losses of around 2,500 people. The EAF project aims to reduce CO2 emissions by 5 million tonnes per annum, ensure continuity of steelmaking in Port Talbot, and preserve most jobs.

Broken Boom

Hi there, yesterday my SuperSpars boom broke during a sailing session. It snapped after about 15 minutes on a half-wind course, just after the point where the vang is connected to the boom. It is a relatively new aluminium boom (not the old round booms but a rectangular one, something like 10 years old), and I have sailed in much heavier winds before, so I am not sure how/why this happened. Karnataka govt decides to implement recommendations of 7th Pay Commission

The Karnataka cabinet has approved the implementation of the seventh Pay Commission's recommendations, effective from August 1. The commission, chaired by K Sudhakar Rao, proposed a 27.5% increase in the basic salary of over seven lakh state government employees. This adjustment is anticipated to cost the government an additional Rs 17,440.15 crore annually.
