Walton: BABIP and OBP are not for FOH

The Toledo Blade

The sport that I have played and watched since childhood now fuels my senior years by allowing me to manage my own fantasy baseball team. It is a responsibility I take seriously. Every morning after I pour my coffee, I do two things. I check to see who got hurt, who’s hot and who’s not, and who’s pitching that day, and then I set my lineup for the evening’s games. Then, and only then, I read The Blade. It’s all about priorities, you know?

A good example is Perrysburg, where a highly rated school system is helping fuel growth but the growth threatens to overwhelm the schools. (“Perrysburg school leaders call for curbing new housing,” Friday)

Burris: The remorseful day

The Toledo Blade

American historians will record May 30, 2024, as a remorseful day. And the days after as days for visiting the sick and burying the dead.

To the editor: Overdose deaths need response

The Toledo Blade

In Toledo we lose about 200 people every year to a drug overdose. About 89 to 90 percent of the deaths are because of fentanyl. In 2022 in the United States there were over 100,000 drug deaths, and about 70 percent of those were a result of fentanyl.
