Twitter alive with #Vavi comments!

Twitter was abuzz after trade unionist Zwelinzima Vavi was arrested for allegedly driving at 207km/h in a 120km/h zone.

Johannesburg - The twitterati were having a field day on Monday after news broke that former Cosatu secretary-general Zwelinzima Vavi had been arrested on Sunday morning for alleged driving at 207km/h in a 120km/h zone.

Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department spokesman Wilfred Kgasago would neither confirm nor deny that Vavi was arrested, only saying they had arrested six people on Sunday.

“We arrest people and there are legalities involved (and so) we can’t issue names until they appear in court. We can’t do that,” he said.

In all, he said, EMPD arrested six people for speeding between 5.30am and 11.30am. It is understood that Vavi was later released on bail.
