A few months ago, Farhan Akhtar confirmed that Don 3 is officially happening, with actor Ranveer Singh taking on the responsibility to carry the franchise forward. This announcement had sparked both buzz and debate, especially with fans as they questioned why Ranveer, and not Shah Rukh Khan, would essay the iconic role. As soon as the teaser was released, social media was flooded with mixed reactions from the audience. But after the release of the teaser, there were no updates on the much anticipated project. This further resulted in multiple rumors about whether DON 3 had been postponed or shelved. Now, Farhan Akhtar has finally shared his thoughts. The popular actor-filmmaker addressed all speculations and put the rumors to rest.

In an interview with India Today, Farhan Akhtar clarified that Ranveer Singh's Don 3 is very much on track. Neither it has been shelved or delayed. He was quizzed over dodging questions on Don 3, to which, he said, "I am not dodging any questions. Don 3 is starting this year, and 120 Bahadur will release at the end of the year." Given that the film's shooting will begin this year, fans can expect Don 3 to hit the theatres only next year.

Don 3 also stars Kiara Advani as the leading lady opposite Ranveer Singh. Reports also stated that 12th Fail star Vikrant Massey has been brought onboard to feature as the antagonist. However, there is no confirmation on the same.

Apart from Don 3, more than a year ago, Farhan Akhtar also announced his ambitious project Jee Le Zaraa starring Alia Bhatt, Priyanka Chopra and Katrina Kaif. The announcement left the fans intrigued as it would be for the first time that the three ladies would come together. However, there has been no progress on the film since its announcement. Farhan Akhtar during the interview confirmed that the film is on hold right now as a lot of dates need to be coordinated. He implied that the film is still on cards but for 'another time'.
