Fire broke out at Halyk Arena in Almaty

Footage sent to the editorial office shows thick smoke filling a corridor inside the arena. According to a reader, her son trains there as a hockey player. The coach reportedly informed parents that training sessions had been canceled and shared a video from the scene.
The Department of Emergency Situations (DES) of Almaty confirmed the fire, stating that they received the report at 12:35 P.M. on February 27.
"Before firefighters arrived, arena staff extinguished the blaze in an administrative office on the second floor of the 3rd block using an internal fire hose. The fire covered an area of 8 square meters. There were no casualties or injuries," the DES reported.
Earlier, on February 26, a fire broke out at the Saryarka shopping mall in Astana.
