Kazhydromet issued air quality warning for Astana and Almaty
Tengrinews.kz - Kazhydromet has issued an air pollution warning for residents of Astana, Almaty, and six other cities in Kazakhstan.
"On November 25, 2024, unfavorable meteorological conditions for air pollution are expected in Almaty, Astana, Shymkent, Ust-Kamenogorsk, Semey, Ridder, Pavlodar, and Petropavlovsk," the statement read.
Unfavorable meteorological conditions occur due to a combination of short-term factors such as calm weather, weak winds, fog, and atmospheric inversions, which contribute to the accumulation of harmful pollutants in the lower layers of the atmosphere.
Earlier, meteorologists released a seasonal forecast for winter 2024/2025, predicting "temperature swings" with sharp fluctuations and challenging weather conditions for Kazakhstan residents.
