NEW: FC Platinum beat MWOS at Ngoni
Online Reporter
MWOS suffered their first defeat at Ngoni Stadium after falling to a 0-2 loss against FC Platinum on Saturday afternoon.
Davison Marowa and Precious Phiri were on target for Pure Platinum Play.
FC Platinum maintained their unbeaten run in the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
FC Platinum coach Norman Mapeza said his players are now playing each game for the late Brian Banda.
The star midfielder died in a car accident three weeks ago.
Marowa scored the opening goal after 18 minutes, heading home a cross by the tireless Thubelihle Jubane.
Precious Phiri sealed the win a few minutes after the restart.
“We are now playing each game for the late Brian Banda,” said Mapeza.
The former national team captain also urged players to be responsible when they are given off days.
“I can’t control what the players do in their spare time, but they are family men,” he said.
MWOS coach Lloyd Mutasa accepted defeat and saluted his opponents.
“Losing happens in football but it’s painful to lose at home after going for a very long time without tasting defeat at Ngoni,” said Mutasa.
“When you lose you accept it and take the result home then come back.”
FC Platinum’s win also meant Mapeza’s side remained the only team without a loss in the 2025 Castle Lager Premier Soccer League season.
They moved to 31 points and 12 behind log leaders Simba Bhora, who edged Dynamos 1-0 at Wadzanai Stadium on Saturday.
MWOS remained on 40 points, three behind log leaders Simba Bhora.
