Kevin Holland lays out ambitious plans for 7 fights in 2025, hopes Colby Covington finally answers his callout by 2026
Kevin Holland wants to break some records before the year is over.
At UFC 318, Holland competes for the fourth time already in 2025 when he faces Daniel Rodriguez on the main card, which means he’s still got plenty of time left to set a new standard for activity in the promotion. Ideally, Holland wants to get to six wins because he’s already had five wins during a calendar year but he shares that honor with both Neil Magny and Roger Huerta.
Because he lost to Reinier de Ridder back in January, Holland needs to win on Saturday and then he would still need three more to stand in truly rarified air in UFC history.
“It’s five wins in a year, right? So I’ve got to do seven just to go ahead and top the record,” Holland said during UFC 318 media day on Wednesday. “We’re four down.
“I figure we’ll get Neil Magny after this one since he’s one of those fellow guys that has five wins in a row in a year. So that will be five. We’ll go get the fifth win against somebody else. I can fight a lot to be honest with you and 170 pounds, I’m learning each time it’s just not that f*cking hard to get to.”
While Holland mentioned Magny by name, he responded “who?” when asked about Huerta, who hasn’t fought in the UFC since 2009. That name really won’t matter in the record books if Holland can somehow figure out a way to get seven fights and six wins before 2025 is completed.
Holland sounds confident that he can make it happen with the UFC willing to keep him busy for the remainder of the year.
“So I’d like to fight the week after [Noche UFC] or two weeks after [Noche UFC],” Holland said. “I would like to fight on [Noche UFC] but I could fight like a week after, two weeks after or even two weeks before. I just want to fight around that time so I can make some money in the [state] of Texas just doing sponsorship stuff.
“Then after that, you could get me another one right before Thanksgiving and then give me another one right before Christmas. That would be a good year.”
Holland obviously mentioned Magny as an ideal opponent with his next fight already booked against Elizeu Zaleski dos Santos on Aug. 2.
As far as other names that interest him, Holland never gets too picky but he’s not holding his breath for a potential fight against Colby Covington, who he called out after his most recent win over Vicente Luque at UFC 316 in June.
Holland claimed Covington got an offer to face him but clearly the fight isn’t happening yet.
“I think I’m going to do all that and still be trying to fight Colby next year,” Holland said. “First, when he thought he could fight Paddy [Pimblett] and go down a weight class, he was 100 percent healthy. As soon as they said my name, vaginal muscle tore so you know how that goes. It takes about 8 to 12 weeks to heal. Not an easy process.”
