Married At First Sight UK’s Lacey breaks down in tears and slams Nathan as a liar – saying ‘fame has gone to his head’
MARRIED At First Sight UK star Lacey Martin broke down in tears as she reflected on her failed romance with Nathan Campbell.
Lacey, 27, sobbed while describing the vicious trolling she’s experienced since the MAFS UK reunion last week – during which Nathan, 24, accused her of asking him for a “showmance”.
Speaking exclusively to The Sun, she told how furious fans have branded her a “narcissist” and a “gaslighter” – but accused the show of missing out vital scenes which balanced the conversation between them.
Lacey said: “They’ve edited it to make me out as this villain.
“It was completely off. They cut out all of my responses to Nathan and it looks like I just accepted what he was saying, which isn’t fair.”
Lacey and Nathan were considered one of the strongest couples during the most recent series of MAFS UK.
But fans were stunned when they split just weeks after the show ended and, in the reunion episode, Lacey learned Nathan had been telling their co-stars she’d asked for a “showmance” to cash in on their TV fame.
But Lacey has blasted this accusation – insisting Nathan was fully on board with making money together after they’d decided to split.
She said: “It was after we’d split up. Throughout the experiment I was in love, I didn’t expect us to break up.
“I watched the show when it aired and my feelings for Nathan started coming back, so I reached out to him.
“We were FaceTiming regularly and he was talking to me about doing collaborations even though we weren’t together. He was asking if I’d had any work from the show.”
Lacey wants to make it clear that – despite Nathan’s claims he has messages from her suggesting faking their relationship – he is not being honest as he attempts to implicate only her.
She continued: “I just want him to tell the truth.
“He is not the person I fell in love with, he’s completely and utterly gone and I do feel like the fame has gone to his head.
“That edited conversation is not a true reflection of what happened between us.”
Nathan claimed the reason he and Lacey broke up was because of her suggestion of a “showmance”, but she revealed she actually ended things when he failed to wish her good luck before running the Race For Life – something she does every year after her mum battled cancer.
Lacey explained: “In the scenes that were cut I told Nathan ‘we didn’t split up because of messages’ It’s not the reason we split up.
“I messaged him saying that maybe we should just be friends if he couldn’t wish me luck on what was a really important day for me.
“I was shocked and hurt and told him I’d never do that to him.”
As a result of the controversial scenes from last week, Lacey confessed she is in a “dark” place and has started therapy in an attempt to manage her mental health.
She said: “I would be lying if I said I wasn’t struggling. I just wish Nathan would put out a statement – I feel like that would really help the situation.”
