Vinted sellers left fuming as Evri makes a HUGE change to its delivery service
VINTED sellers have been left fuming after Evri announced a huge change to its delivery service.
While sellers have previously been able to drop their Evri parcels into selected InPost lockers, that service has now stopped.
So if you’re selling a parcel on Vinted, and Evri has been selected as the method of delivery, you’ll have to go to your local Evri ParcelShop – or a specific Evri locker – to send it instead.
And while it was reported by people on social media that the change was due to be implemented on 1st March, it was actually put in place on 26th February – meaning InPost lockers have already stopped accepting Evri parcels.
Vinted users have been taking to social media to express their annoyance over the change, with many insisting having to go to a ParcelShop is much less convenient than popping to an InPost locker.
“I have just discovered this 5 mins ago,” one person fumed.
“I took 2 Evri parcels to my InPost locker and they aren’t recognised.
“I thought was a glitch on the lockers, came home, Googled and discovered this.”
“I went earlier to drop an Evri parcel at InPost and wouldn’t recognise the barcode on the label,” another sighed.
“Rang customer services and they said as of today/tonight they will no longer be accepting Evri at InPost lockers at all, so now have to travel further to an Evri shop just to send off.”
“InPost is so convenient for me as it’s on the school route,” a third said.
“Better have a look to see where I have to take them.”
“I’m fuming about it! I hate dropping them off in the shops,” someone else wrote.
“Tbh I’m getting close to only having InPost turned on as an option, I don’t want to travel ages, find parking just to drop off parcel,” another insisted.
“I turned off Evri, Yodel late last year after black Friday and now only offer InPost or Royal Mail 48,” someone else wrote.
“Not many people choose Royal Mail and the InPost locker’s at the end of my road.”
“I printed a label at home for an Evri parcel… InPost lockers wouldn’t accept it,” another raged.
“My nearest drop off was a 10 min drive away, plus had to park the car. Def a blow!”
New Vinted rules to be aware of
IF you fancy clearing out your wardrobe and getting rid of your old stuff on Vinted, you’ll need to consider the new rules that recently came into play.
If people are selling personal items for less than they paid new (which is generally the case for second-hand sales), there is no impact on tax.
However, since January 1, digital platforms, including eBay, Airbnb, Etsy, Amazon and Vinted, must share seller information with HMRC as part of a crackdown.
You’re unlikely to be affected if you only sell a handful of second-hand items online each year – generally, only business sellers trading for profit might need to pay tax.
A tax-free allowance of £1,000 has been in place since 2017 for business sellers trading for profit – the only time that an individual personal item might be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is a profit from the sale.
However, firms now have to pass on your data to HMRC if you sell 30 or more items a year or earn over £1,700.
It is part of a wider tax crackdown to help ensure that those who boost their income via side hustles pay up what they owe.
While your data won’t be shared with HMRC if you earn between £1,000 and £1,700, you’ll still need to pay tax as normal.
“Gutted – I suffer with my health and the InPost locker is handy, it’s literally over the road for me,” someone else said.
As another admitted: “My heart sinks when someone chooses Evri.
“But it’s so popular I daren’t turn it off and lose sales.”
A spokesperson for Evri said: “We have one of the largest ParcelShop and Locker networks in the UK, with around 10,000 locations.
“Locations include Post Office branches, Tesco Express stores and thousands of convenience stores, and we have plans to grow our network further this year.
“We are making some changes to our ParcelShop and Locker network, customers are no longer able to drop off Evri parcels at InPost lockers, as our contract comes to an end.
“We recommend customers visit our ParcelShop finder to find the most convenient place to pick up or drop off parcels.”
