Balloon release held for New Iberia man killed in Monday shooting
NEW IBERIA, La. (KLFY) -- Nearly 50 people gathered in New Iberia to honor the life of 35-year-old Lamarcus Daniels on Saturday.
Daniels was found shot to death in the front yard of a home in the 600 block of Lafayette Street Monday.
As his family, friends and loved ones said goodbye to Lamarcus with a balloon release in his honor Saturday, his mother, Tina Daniels, said she is still struggling with the loss, as she says she was there when everything unfolded.
She says she will always remember Lamarcus as a man who had great love for his family, and especially kids.
"He always was a family person," Daniels said. "He always was with the children, he loved children, always on the phone with his daughter, nieces, nephews, he was always jolly."
Daniels says she is seeking closure for what happened to Lamarcus.
"I want justice, where I know, that I can have answers," said Daniels.
This shooting is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact New Iberia Police.
