Is Israel intending to start a larger Middle East war?

Yesterday Israeli IDF fighter jets attacked Lebanon killing a top Hezbollah commander and some of his officers. This came after days earlier Israeli Mossad remotely detonated thousands of pagers Hezbollah uses to communicate killing 12 people and injuring thousands. The next day Hezbollah walkie-talkie's were detonated in the same fashion. Hezbollah leader Hassan Nesrallah described the attacks as a declaration of war.
