Local districts receive funding for Pre-K programs

NEW YORK STATE (NEWS10) -- Some Capital Region school districts received funding to expand their early childhood education programs. The New York State Department of Education is providing $34 million in Universal Prekindergarten (UPK) Expansion Grants to help 64 districts establish full-day pre-Kindergarten programs for 4-year-old students.

Schools can use the money to create new full-day placements or convert half-day programs into full-day ones. The new programs can start as early as fall 2024.
